The AUSTRALIAN LAVENDER INDUSTRY is proudly the Sponsor for the Lavender Section at The Royal Canberra Show in February 2010 for the ninth year.

Instrumental in establishing this Section, The Australian Lavender Industry sees the benefit in promoting Lavender at The Royal Canberra Show as a means of increasing the exposure of the lavender industry to the general public and to promote the efforts of growers and producers of Lavender and lavender products.

The Royal Canberra Show is a traditional agricultural Show and as such reflects the agricultural and rural nature of lavender growing and the spirit of producing a natural product.

The Classes in the Lavender Section for 2009 have been expanded and changed from previous years to reflect current changes in lifestyle and interest of the general public.

Although Chocolate & Lavender is still a favourite for the Cooking Classes there is now a Class for YOUR FAVOURITE CAKE with Lavender. Hopefully the display cupboards will be full with wonderful cakes.

The Southern Olive Growers' Association is part of the Horticultural Section at the Royal Canberra Show and as such a Class for an Olive Oil Cake with Lavender features.

To encourage more participants from around Australia, Classes such as the Decorated Lavender Bag Class are featured as these entries can easily be sent by mail from anywhere in Australia. A new painted tile Class is featured this year and already there is enormous interest from the schools in the Canberra region. Although the theme is Lavender there is no restriction on materials used to decorate the entries.

Members of LAVENDER AUSTRALIA, those interested in Lavender, and the General Public are encouraged to enter the Lavender Section, have fun, and hopefully win.
